Kathleen Parrish

Clinical Director

Kathleen Parrish is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Master Life Coach. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, which she received in 1991. In 1999, Kathleen completed two Master of Arts degrees at Southwestern Theological Seminary: one in Marriage and Family Therapy and another in Religious Education. She is also an EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) Certified Therapist, specializing in attachment-focused EMDR.

Kathleen’s professional experience spans more than 25 years working with trauma survivors. Her approach incorporates EMDR, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness practices. She is an approved Clinical Supervisor and is experienced in using evidence-based practices to address mental health issues, addiction, and trauma. Early in her career, she provided services in a community mental health setting, offering family therapy to those affected by addiction and trauma.

In 2002, Kathleen began an 18-year tenure at Cottonwood Tucson, where she served as both a therapist and, later, as Senior Director of Clinical Operations and Community Outreach until 2020. That year, she established KP Counseling and Consulting, LLC, along with Beyond: Coaching, Consulting and Intensives, LLC, to address the increasing need for specialized mental health and trauma treatment in her community and internationally.

Kathleen has published articles for Counselor, Addiction Professional, Addiction Today and Arizona Together magazines. She is the author of “The Essence of Resilience: Stories of Triumph over Trauma,” (HCI Books, 2016). She is a frequent speaker at conferences in the United States and Europe. She made several television guest appearances on Dr. Phil (NBC) and Intervention (A&E).
